A Letter To The Lady On The Bus (and any other woman who has been asked to justify not having children)

We shouldn’t have to be having this conversation in 2019. Continue reading A Letter To The Lady On The Bus (and any other woman who has been asked to justify not having children)

Hate to Love

You know those things that we hate to love? The things that we really, really, really love that we know that we really shouldn’t.  There are so many things to choose from, aren’t there, that society would scowl at? Things like Jedward for instance.  I love Jedward, Jedward are awesome.  Do you know why people are so divided by Jedward?  It’s because they’re fun, they’re completely frivolous and as long as they are having fun they don’t really care whether you like it or not.  This divides the world into two people – the ones who are jealous of their … Continue reading Hate to Love

If I’m Lucky, He’ll Come Back.

“Yes I love him. I love him more than anything else in this world and there is nothing that I would like better than to hold on to him forever. But I know it’s not for the best. So no matter how much my heart is going to break, I’ve got to let him go so he can know just how much I love him. Maybe if I’m lucky, he’ll come back, but if not, I can make it through this.” Stolen from http://www.searchquotes.com, original source unknown.  It’s so true, and I love it. This Is Love.

There is something sickeningly cliched about getting married on Valentine’s day, but that’s what thousands did regardless.  Edith Casa and Victor Cingolani were one of those couples when they married over in Argentina yesterday.  If you haven’t read their story, let me fill you in about why I’ve chosen to write about this particularly special couple.  He is currently in jail serving a 13 year sentence…for killing her sister.  Just let that sink in for a minute. Now I know that you have already formed your own opinion, but let me give you mine anyway.  I think it’s beautiful.  I think she’s … Continue reading This Is Love.

140 Syllables Later…

Shakespeare wrote over 154 sonnets.  I’ve just written my first sonnet and I’m feeling no need to write another one ever again. A sonnet is a poem, more often than not romantically themed, which is exactly 14 lines long.  Each of these 14 lines has exactly 10 syllables, and works to an ‘abab cdcd efef gg’ rhythm.  Basically, if you never paid attention in your english classes, it means that every other line rhymes except for the last two as sonnets are finished off with a rhyming couplet. So maybe it’s because I don’t like rhyme, maybe it’s because apparently  I really like … Continue reading 140 Syllables Later…

Top 5 : Soppy Love Songs

Okay, I’ve succumbed to listening to some soppy(ish) lovey dovey songs, and here are the five which I have decided encompass everything that a good true love should be (in the perfect Disney princess, hearts and flowers, Mr Perfect kind of way that various romantic publications tell us is right).  Vomit buckets at the ready… 1. I Won’t Say I think my subconcious wrote this song in my sleep, because I do this on a regular basis (it pains me to admit that).  There were so many Disney love songs that could have made it into this list, but this … Continue reading Top 5 : Soppy Love Songs

Top 5: (Not Quite) Love Songs

My current top five songs that are almost about love?  This is a slightly more enthusiastic attempt to get into the spirit of all things hearts and flowers… 1. I Hate Everything About You We’ve all been there.  Where you really like that one person who encompasses everything that you hate about humanity, and you can’t really justify it because you “just do.” 2. Wicked Way I just love the honesty of this song.  So many people out there will say that they’ve never thought like this, and at least 90% are lying.  Would you not rather somebody was honest about … Continue reading Top 5: (Not Quite) Love Songs

Top 5: Anti-Love Songs

I’d love to kickstart my month of lovey dovey blogs with something unnaturally upbeat and soppy, but let’s be realistic, this is is the Queen of Unromantic writing here.  So I thought I’d break myself into the vile subject by picking my five favourite songs that are either totally opposed to love or have nothing to do with love.  [By ‘favourite’ I mean the first 5 that came into my head. I love music too much to have favourites] 1. Everyday I Love You Less And Less If the title doesn’t explain it then I don’t know what will.  Hate … Continue reading Top 5: Anti-Love Songs
