50+ Ways To Romance Yourself This Valentine’s Day

In case you weren’t aware, I’m a veteran singleton and not-so-strong, sometimes independent woman. I know for some single people – men and women alike – being ‘alone’ on Valentine’s Day can be pretty hard while others just sail on through it like it’s nothing. Regardless of what kind of single person you are, here are a few ways you can appreciate your single self this February 14th…

  1. Buy yourself flowers.
  2. Make a list of reasons why you are great (even if you don’t think you are).
  3. Make your favourite meal.
  4. Order in some takeaway.
  5. Indulge in dessert.
  6. Go for a walk somewhere that you feel comfortable and at peace.
  7. Watch your favourite movie, and remind yourself why you like it so much.
  8. Treat yourself to a day out to a local attraction.
  9. Make some time to read a book. Bonus points if it’s your favourite book.
  10. Go to a bakery and buy a cake or biscuit (and eat it!).
  11. Learn your favourite song on whatever musical instrument you play.
  12. Light a scented candle.
  13. Have a bath – go wild with bubbles, a bath bomb, bath confetti, bath salts…whatever feels a little luxurious.
  14. Listen to some of your favourite songs.
  15. Book a hair or beauty appointment.
  16. Watch or participate in that sport you enjoy.
  17. Book yourself a night in a hotel away from it all.
  18. Go to the theatre.
  19. Go to the cinema.
  20. Write a story.
  21. Tell your pet you love them and give them a cuddle.
  22. Buy yourself a present – something that you actually want/like.
  23. Get dressed up, even if you’re not going anywhere.
  24. Post a selfie on Instagram.
  25. Stay away from all social media for 24 hours.
  26. Watch some of your favourite Youtuber’s old videos.
  27. Plan out your perfect date, and then take yourself.
  28. Book a trip.
  29. Delete cliche’d dating apps (at least for 24 hours so you can focus on you).
  30. Let your family and/or friends know how much you appreciate them.
  31. Binge watch a TV show.
  32. Read up on something that interests you.
  33. Visit your local library and pick a book that you wouldn’t normally consider – challenge yourself to grow and learn what you like.
  34. Wear your nice underwear, even if nobody is going to see it.
  35. Wear matching socks.
  36. Wear odd socks.
  37. Wear no underwear.
  38. Go to a spa.
  39. Have a DIY pamper night.
  40. Rearrange the furniture.
  41. Declutter a drawer.
  42. Go to the beach and watch the sea. Or a lake and watch the water.
  43. Watch the sun rise.
  44. Watch the sun set.
  45. Climb a mountain (or a really big hill) (or a not so big hill).
  46. Dance.
  47. Make yourself a mocktail.
  48. Change your bedding and relish in the feel of clean sheets.
  49. Read your horoscope and find out about your zodiac sign and see if you agree with what the stars say.
  50. Plan a holiday and, if you can afford to, book it. If you can’t afford it right now, work out how you could save up to make it happen.
  51. Write a bucket list of things that you want to do in your life.
  52. Try a new food that you’ve always been curious about but never been brave enough to try.
  53. Got to the beach and paddle in the sea.
  54. Buy some artificial rose petals, throw them in the air and let them shower down around you.
  55. Listen to Amazon Prime’s Single On Valentine’s Day playlist (it’s one of my favourite’s all year round!)
  56. Watch a rom-com and pick out everything that is wrong with the storyline.
