“My daughter, she’s 45 now. She looks out for me. Well sometimes. Sometimes she looks out for me, you know? My sons though, her brothers, I don’t know anymore. 5 years. They don’t want anything to do with me. Maybe they’re dead but I don’t worry about it anymore. Why bother?” *** Regardless of the fact that I was at the bus station in time for the 4:30 bus today, something held me back. Today I decided to get the later bus, minimise the amount of time I’d sit next to a stranger in traffic. This decision lead to 3 … Continue reading When Life Hands You A Drunk Make Conversationade.
“Single is not a status, it is a word used to describe somebody who is strong enough to enjoy their life without depending on others.” There you go [insert definitive nod here]. This isn’t my quote, but it’s basically something which I say all the time. It’s the root of the “I’m single because I don’t need an ‘other half’ to be whole.”. Oh, and if you are single, and you disagree with the above statement (if you’re one of these girls that moans about not having a boyfriend, or vice versa), then I managed to find a quote that … Continue reading Relationship Status: Independant.
Happy Valentine’s Day! How was your day? Suitably sickening? Or perhaps it was as tedious as every other year? Did you get any cards? I never, quelle surprise. I’m not going to lie, it was just another Thursday. In my life Thursday’s have a reputation of being a little bit terrible ( it’s like that Monday morning feeling all day). We’re all allowed a bad day once in a while, and today just happened to be my turn again. Let me impart my new-found wisdom with you: 1. If you have an injury and you roll onto it in your … Continue reading Happy Valentine’s Day!
Girls everywhere melted a little* (*turned into huge soppy puddles on the floor) when this video from Tom Fletcher’s wedding day went viral on social networking sites in January. This is so cringey. Like, makes you squirm in your seat cringey. I’m glad that I am not his bride, because as much as it may be sweet/cute/adorable/whatever, I would be positively mortified. I suppose maybe you get used to that kind of shenanigans if you’re marrying a popstar. Even guys were getting in it, congratulating Mr Fletcher and saying he deserved an award. Maybe he does, but I would have … Continue reading Tom’s Wedding ‘Speech’
Shakespeare wrote over 154 sonnets. I’ve just written my first sonnet and I’m feeling no need to write another one ever again. A sonnet is a poem, more often than not romantically themed, which is exactly 14 lines long. Each of these 14 lines has exactly 10 syllables, and works to an ‘abab cdcd efef gg’ rhythm. Basically, if you never paid attention in your english classes, it means that every other line rhymes except for the last two as sonnets are finished off with a rhyming couplet. So maybe it’s because I don’t like rhyme, maybe it’s because apparently I really like … Continue reading 140 Syllables Later…
Okay, I’ve succumbed to listening to some soppy(ish) lovey dovey songs, and here are the five which I have decided encompass everything that a good true love should be (in the perfect Disney princess, hearts and flowers, Mr Perfect kind of way that various romantic publications tell us is right). Vomit buckets at the ready… 1. I Won’t Say I think my subconcious wrote this song in my sleep, because I do this on a regular basis (it pains me to admit that). There were so many Disney love songs that could have made it into this list, but this … Continue reading Top 5 : Soppy Love Songs
