“Ugly To The Point That It Horrified Me.”

In November Jian Feng was awarded £75,000 by the courts…because he fathered an ‘ugly’ baby. Apparently his wife had plastic surgery prior to meeting him, and never told him about the procedures.  So when Mr Feng saw his bundle of joy and she didn’t look the way he thought she should, he instantly accused his wife of being unfaithful.  Paternity tests disproved his accusations though, and this is when the truth came out.  So he changed his case, claiming that he had been wrongfully mislead by his wife and the male judge agreed with him. What kind of environment is this for their daughter … Continue reading “Ugly To The Point That It Horrified Me.”

Creme Egg Cheesecake

I lack absolutely any culinary talent, which over the years has resulted in me becoming one of those experimental chefs.  I never really know what I’m doing but sometimes I just throw what I fancy together and hope for the best.  Sometimes it goes terribly wrong, and sometimes my concoctions turn out rather brilliantly.  Easter Sunday’s vague attempt at a Crème Egg cheesecake was the latter. Now, I can tell you the ingredients but I’m afraid that  can’t really tell you the quantities of said ingredients.  One of the wonders of experimental cooking!  I will try my best though… INGREDIENTS … Continue reading Creme Egg Cheesecake

Alice’s Adventures in London

I was at the cinema on Thursdsay, an event so rare in itself that it deserves a mention.  What was the last thing that you saw in the cinema?  There’s a high chance that it was something fairly recent, and I have to admit that recently I’ve done not too bad for cinema trips with this being my 3rd one this year (Monsters Inc 3D and Les Mis being the first two, both brilliant).  Thursday’s cinema trip was slightly different however, because I wasn’t there to watch some new release Blockbuster movie, or remake of a childhood favourite or anything in … Continue reading Alice’s Adventures in London

Preggo

Youtube- home to the bizarre, the brilliant and the down right disturbing.  This video ticks all of those boxes.  Without giving the storyline away, it’s a short film about a teenage guy who gets pregnant, and a girlfriend who just isn’t ready for that level of commitment.  Both light hearted and serious, the aim of the film is to get people (not only teenagers) to think about the possible consequences of their intimate actions.  I thoroughly recommend finding the time to watch it, it’s well done. Going Lomo

I was down in Edinburgh on Saturday, and bought myself two new toys.  Let me introduce you to the latest additions of my camera collection; Yes, I nicked these pictures off the internet, but in my head there is something ridiculous about taking a photograph of a camera.  Why do I need two new cameras, I hear you ask?  The truth is, quite simply, that I don’t.  I am completely and utterly unable to save money.  I am one of those people who sees something that they want and then just buys it, because as far as I’m concerned I … Continue reading Going Lomo

Two Little Musical Ducks

There’s a song on Taylor Swift’s Red album called ’22’, and there’s also a song on Lily Allen’s It’s Not Me, It’s You album called ’22’.  Now, I know that I’m probably not living life the way the majority of people my age are, but I’m 22 and I don’t see any need to write a song about it.  In fact, I don’t see any aspect of my life that is worthy of singing about, maybe my life is just exceptionally mundane. I’m going to post links to both songs at the bottom of this post, but they have completely … Continue reading Two Little Musical Ducks

When Life Hands You A Drunk Make Conversationade.

“My daughter, she’s 45 now. She looks out for me. Well sometimes. Sometimes she looks out for me, you know? My sons though, her brothers, I don’t know anymore. 5 years. They don’t want anything to do with me. Maybe they’re dead but I don’t worry about it anymore. Why bother?” *** Regardless of the fact that I was at the bus station in time for the 4:30 bus today, something held me back. Today I decided to get the later bus, minimise the amount of time I’d sit next to a stranger in traffic. This decision lead to 3 … Continue reading When Life Hands You A Drunk Make Conversationade.

I Would Walk 500 Miles…But You Wouldn’t.

At the weekend I found myself in Dundee for the annual Polaris day event (it’s a Guide thing, where Scottish members aged between 16 & 25 get together to voice their opinions on various things), and I’d like to start by saying it was a really good day. We made balloons look like pirates, wandered around the Discovery (a big boat) and went on a treasure hunt (have you guessed the theme yet?). As well as all that, we had some really interesting discussions about Guidey things that I’m not going to bore the non-Guidey people amongst you with…except the … Continue reading I Would Walk 500 Miles…But You Wouldn’t.

Goodbye Love Month.

Here it is, the end of another month.  Since I spent the last 28 days writing about all things lovey dovey I’ve decided to take some time off from the nausea inducing and share with you a collection of pictures I have accumulated on my laptop along the way.  A lot of them are from Tumblr, some are from Google, and they all appealed to my slightly more affectionate side.  Apologies if these photos belong to you. Continue reading Goodbye Love Month.

Hate to Love

You know those things that we hate to love? The things that we really, really, really love that we know that we really shouldn’t.  There are so many things to choose from, aren’t there, that society would scowl at? Things like Jedward for instance.  I love Jedward, Jedward are awesome.  Do you know why people are so divided by Jedward?  It’s because they’re fun, they’re completely frivolous and as long as they are having fun they don’t really care whether you like it or not.  This divides the world into two people – the ones who are jealous of their … Continue reading Hate to Love
