My Sparkly Christmas

Another poem from the hard drive.  A little more festive, this one was written for a church competition.  It won. My Sparkly Christmas A poem by Kirsty Brown It sparkles in the daylight It sparkles in the night It’s everywhere I look around It’s even on the ground My favourite is the silver But there’s other colours too Gold, purple, red or blue Multicoloured, what’s for you? In class we use it everyday When Christmas comes around The green’s a tree, a shiny blue sky And there’s silver sparkly snow! I find it on my trousers My coat, my shoes-my … Continue reading My Sparkly Christmas

Bound

So I just plugged my external hard drive into my shiny new computer for the first time, and clicked on a folder titled ‘IMPORTANT STUFF’.  This hard drive, I should warn you, is mainly home to photos, videos and documents from my first laptop purchased circa 2007.  I replaced it in 2011 when I returned to college, because commuting with a 17″ laptop is not really practical.  Anyway, the first thing in my IMPORTANT STUFF folder was this poem I wrote about Fyvie Castle’s library in sixth year. Here it is, exactly the same way it was submitted in 2008.   … Continue reading Bound

A Blog of Thanksgiving!

I’m going to come clean- the reason that I haven’t written recently is because life has been a little…strange…this past few weeks.  I’m not going to divulge why and I’m also not going to divulge the number of times that I have started writing and not finished because I just can’t. This blog post is my own personal thanksgiving for all of the sucky things in my life. (I’m Scottish and probably don’t fully understand the concept of thanksgiving so bear with me!) I don’t think that there is any proper way to start this so I’m just going to … Continue reading A Blog of Thanksgiving!

Review: Hudl

Okay, so I’m not in the habit of reviewing actual, physical objects, but I’m going to give it a bash.  My intentions are to use this blog post to tell you a little bit about the Hudl. WHAT IS A HUDL? The Hudl is Tesco’s attempt at paving it’s way into the gadget market by focussing on the tech of the moment – the tablet.  Not, like, an actual medical tablet, but an electronic one.  Like an iPad, but instead of being made by Apple it was made by Tesco. HUDL…THAT’S AN ACRONYM RIGHT? I’m afraid it’s not.  Having worked … Continue reading Review: Hudl

Honey, I’m Home!

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe that it’s been 5 weeks since I last wrote here.  Have you missed me?  I bet you haven’t!  I sure have missed you though- going a little bit stir crazy up in my head!  Look at all this punctuation, can you tell that I’m excited to be back blogging?! (Oh how I wish for an interrobang right now) I know you don’t care about my painfully prolonged absence, but I am going to tell you about it anyway.  I told myself that I wasn’t allowed to write until I had finished my HND, the … Continue reading Honey, I’m Home!

Just A Thought….

I come from a great family, a family who are great in every sense of the word.  I mean my whole extended family, not just my immediate family.  If you extend my family tree in the right directions you would find a lot of very successful people.  A family riddled with lawyers, doctors and teachers.  People who will be spoken about so highly whenever people get the chance, men and women alike who are in professions of great wealth, holding positions that they have worked very hard to achieve.  I’m proud of my family, of every single relation, and I … Continue reading Just A Thought….

Crazy, Crazy Nights.

Can I just take a minute to breath?  Life has been so insanely crazy this past few weeks, and I think it’s starting to catch up with me!  Had myself a little cryfest last night when life just all became a little bit too much.  On the bright side I’m off work till Monday night which means that I don’t have to change out of my pyjamas until then.  Still got myself college work to do, running a little behind, but it will all be done before I get dressed! First stop in my little chaotic whirlwind month was Mum’s … Continue reading Crazy, Crazy Nights.

Answer Me This…

Have you ever found yourself just completely and utterly perplexed at something that seems so incredibly simple?  Have you ever wondered how something so simple, so stupid can absolutely fry your brain with it’s complexity.  I find myself regularly perplexed, and I am hoping that perhaps by throwing five of the thoughts guilty of giving me brain strain out there that somebody might finally be able to give me some answers… Why is heart spelt h-e-a-r-t, but pronounced ‘haa-rt’?  If you were to drop the r then it would cease to be heart and would become heat, which is pronounced ‘hee-t’.  … Continue reading Answer Me This…

My Chip

Today I received an e-mail that said “If I asked you what your biggest motivation is, what would you say?” My motivation is, quite simply, that I need to prove people wrong.  I have a huge, somewhat debilitating chip on my shoulder which means that when somebody tells me I can’t, or won’t, do something I develop an overwhelming passion to do it.  They told me that I wouldn’t make it through last year at college, and one of the best things that I’ve ever done was stick a big FU status on Facebook when I walked out for summer … Continue reading My Chip

World Book Night 2013

Happy World Book Night!  To celebrate, I hereby give you 10 completely useless and uninteresting Kirsty-related book facts.  My favourite book is Wuthering Heights, which I first read in 5th year for my Personal Study.  Heathcliff, you are perfect…please marry me.  Also in 5th year we had to read Lord of the Flies. It took my two weeks to read it.  I hated it, it’s actually the worst book ever. When I was younger the guy who owns the chemist down in Banff asked me what I wanted to be when I grow up.  I said I wanted to be … Continue reading World Book Night 2013
