Newtown’s Angels

At 9:36am, on Friday the 14th of December, Newtown Police received a phonecall informing them that there was a gunman in Sandy Hook Elementary School.  Their day had barely begun, but for 20 children, 6 members of staff and the shooter’s own mother it was to be the last morning they would ever see. Now I don’t know about you, but it always saddens me when I hear of these massacres.  I could write about how guns need to be banned, about how gun laws need to be tightened or about how America’s gun crime record is so much higher than … Continue reading Newtown’s Angels

Shopping Dot Com

Do you shop online? I do.  I mean, I’d rather actually go shopping but considering I live nearly 40 miles away from the shops it’s not so easy.  With Christmas fast approaching, I’ve drawn up a list of my favourite places to spend money on the internet (This started out as another top 10 blog, until I realised that I didn’t use 10 different websites this year.) AMAZON – http://www.amazon.com Home of almost everything and anything.  It started off as a bookstore, but has since expanded.  I buy a lot of my DVDs from here because they generally work out … Continue reading Shopping Dot Com

A Hole In The Head.

The end of November saw one of those anniversaries that I would rather hadn’t existed.  It was now a whole year since that fateful morning when I woke up with the migraine that just never left.  366 days this year, and 16 passed without me being migrainey or having a headache.  A grand total of 4 days off ill, and 0 days of college, because you reach a point where you learn just to get on with life. My first migraine came along when I was 6 years old.  It was December and I couldn’t stop being sick, the lights … Continue reading A Hole In The Head.

Living For Something

I can guarantee that there are people who will read this blog, and something or somebody is going to stick in their mind from beginning to end, for others it’s just going to sound like nonsense. We’ve all done it.  We’ve all, at some point or another, described something as “my life”, or “what I live for.”  Maybe it’s been a person, maybe it’s a past time, maybe it’s something else.  The point is that we’ve all done it, but how often do we really mean it? You’re maybe sitting there right now trying to tell me that you most … Continue reading Living For Something

Top Ten: Girl Crushes

**WARNING: SCANTILY CLAD WOMAN APPEAR IN THIS POST** “A girlcrush is when a girl admires another girl. It is NOT a sexual attraction. It means you want to BE the person you have a girlcrush on, or simply you just want to be their best friend. You pretty much just think they’re awesome.” Girl crush as defined by Urban Dictionary. Anybody who knows me knows that I’m a serial girlcrusher, which is why writing this post is so hard- how am I only going to pick ten?!  My self esteem is low enough that I pretty much girl crush on … Continue reading Top Ten: Girl Crushes

Trick Or Treat.

Happy HallowE’en! I’ve seen a lot of complaints on various social networks tonight about trick or treaters. You know, the little kids who get all dressed up like spookies then go door to door in their local area.  People complaining that it is vile and disgusting to go round the houses of strangers and beg for sweets.  I have a number of points to make: 1) If you/ you’re child is not in primary school anymore, you/they are too old for trick or treating, hate to break it to you.  A line needs to be drawn, and the crossover between … Continue reading Trick Or Treat.

Scotland’s Biggest Secret.

Today I had the joy of experiencing a nuclear explosion.  Okay, so maybe not a real one or else I wouldn’t be able to write this.  My family and I were at ‘Scotland’s Secret Bunker’, 100ft under a farmhouse not too far from St Andrews, the Government’s best kept secret for 40 years. Why is there a bunker 100ft under an unsuspecting Scottish farmhouse? Simple.  So that in the eventuality of nuclear warfare, the Government has somewhere safe to store their people, where they could still run the country.   Well, they had.  It’s no longer a secret, and has been a museum since 1994 (the Government … Continue reading Scotland’s Biggest Secret.

One In A Million.

This post may seem a slightly heartless, or a little controversial, or may not be what you expect to see, but it’s something I feel quite strongly about.  So if you’re not happy with what you’re reading, just go away. Social networks have been going crazy this week over the story of Amanda Todd, a young naive Canadian girl who made a “stupid mistake” and was, quite literally, tormented to death by it.  Worldwide people have been letting this girl into their hearts, with words of support flooding in : “I would’ve tried to save her if I’d known her when … Continue reading One In A Million.

Hay Is Not Only For Horses.

One little word that can make all the difference. 3 little, seemingly insignificant, letters. Hey! Say “hi” to somebody, the way that they say “hey!” back can tell you a lot about how their day/week/life is going. I mean, think about it. Was it a ‘hey…’, a ‘hey.’ or a ‘hey!’. Now we all know you definitely read the last one differently, even if the first 2 sounded similar in your head. Just imagine the first one to be somewhat miserable, and the second one to be somewhat average and mundane to humour me, okay? More to the point, in … Continue reading Hay Is Not Only For Horses.

Stupid Girls > Perfectionists?

If you’re not already familiar with the music videos for ‘Perfect’ and ‘Stupid Girls’ by P!nk, take less than 10 minutes out of your life right now ;  -Perfect.  – Stupid Girls. Now explain to me why, even after much censoring (that’s the censored version) Perfect has been banned from so many different places, yet Stupid Girls hasn’t?  People got themselves worked up surrounding the displays of self harm in Perfect after the release of the uncensored video, yet there are blatant displays of bulimia in the Stupid Girls video and nobody seemed to bat an eyelid? Is it because … Continue reading Stupid Girls > Perfectionists?
