You may have noticed that over the past few months I’ve been plugging my Home Town Tourism series, and you even may have spotted my first ever Home Town Tourism post from Sippin Gypsy! I’m sure you’ve been asking yourself, however, what on earth is Home Town Tourism, and why am I so keen to get as many people on board to promote it as possible!?
I thought I maybe owed you all an explanation and since I have such a big focus on travel related posts this month I decided now was the time!
What is Home Town Tourism?
Home Town Tourism is the term I have created (I’m sure others have used it before me) for promoting the place you live. I have created this ‘series’ (it will hopefully be an ongoing series!) as a way of promoting the places that people don’t always think about visiting and to encourage people to realise how great their ‘home town’ is as we so often don’t realise what’s on our doorstep! I have encouraged people – bloggers, influencers and non-blogger/influencers alike – to get involved in telling me what their city/town/village/area has to offer. It’s not just limited to the UK – I’ve had people from all over the world wanting to share their story!
How can I get involved?
It’s really simple to get involved! You just head on over to my Google Form and let me know a little bit about you and where you’re from and I’ll be in touch! This is simply so I can make sure that I don’t have two people covering the same tiny village, but even if two people wanted to cover the same place I’m sure it’s possible to find a way that they can both cover a different angle! If you’ve filled it in already then you’ll hear from me soon!
If you think you live somewhere great but you don’t want to write a post all on your own, that is not a problem! I have some interview questions set up that I can send you and you just have to fill in the blanks, then I will take care of writing the post for you!
It really is that simple, so get yourself involved and share the wonder of a place you love!
I love this idea! The mega-cities of the world always seem to get the attention, but I like the idea of promoting smaller towns, too.

This is a great idea. Where I live is not on the regular tourist trail but people from around this area often flock to there I live to try out the great local attractions

This is a great initiative and a wonderful way to spread the word about smaller villages. I live in small-town Scotland and I would love to share more about it with you

This is an amazing idea. We tend to write so much about where we travel and forget that our home is a destination too and itself has so much to offer!

Loved the idea…. The offbeat places suffer in a way…. But if the natives come up…. It would not only add to the income but also will make the place known

I love this! I’ll be home for Christmas and I think it’s a great idea to do a post about my hometown. There are so many cool things to do even though its a bigger small town.

That sounds like fun. I like trying to see places I am familiar with through someone else’s eyes.

This is a great idea. I am not away now for a while and plan to see where I live as a tourist!
